Bits & Pieces...And A Bloggy Break

Whew! I've just caught up on blog reading. I didn't read every single post from the last nine days because well, I have a life. But, I did read my favorites. Some of the things I've learned in the last few hours (of blog reading)-

I'm not the only one lacking Christmas spirit this year.
I'm not the only one who isn't blogging nearly as much as I once was.

Work has consumed me. Literally. I don't have time to finish my library book that's been over due for 3 weeks, much less boot up this ancient laptop to crank out a post.

I do miss the everysingledayblogging but I just don't have time. It feels like it's becoming a second job and that's not why I want to blog. I want to enjoy it again. So? I'm taking a break.

I'm taking a break because I don't have time to blog/I'm out of words/this computer is nearly dead.

Next year, when Chris and I finally go get our pictures made (ya know, because we've been together 5 years and never had a professional picture taken), my blog will be getting a makeover.

And?

AND?

We have to get a new laptop before I can even stand to blog daily again. The stupid space bar on this one sticks so bad, and I'm tired of having to fix it!

I'll still be reading some of my favorite bloggers' posts.

So, I'm letting all 3 of you know that I haven't fallen off the face ofthe Earth, I'm just taking a little bloggy break.

Until next time, have a Merry Christmas and I'll be back next year!

Bacon Wrapped Chicken W/ Chile Cheese Sauce

Bacon makes everything better. Try this recipe if you don't believe me.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken With Chile Cheese Sauce
adapted from The Deen Bros. Cookbook

What you need (I made two tenderloins each):
4 slices bacon
4 chicken breast tenderloins
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1/3 cup  milk
1 tbs. canned chipotle peppers
Dash worcestershire sauce
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil (easy clean up, man!). Now, wrap a piece of bacon around each tenderloin.
Bake the chicken for 20 minutes. While the chicken is baking, make the cheese sauce. Dump the cheese soup, milk, chipotle peppers, and worcestershire sauce into a saucepan and melt together.
Just let it simmer for a bit, then turn the heat off and cover. Once your chicken has been in the oven for 20 minutes, take it out and preheat your broiler. Here's the chicken before the broiler-
Broil the chicken 4 to 5 inches away from the heat for 1 to 2 mintues or until the bacon is sizzling. Turn the chicken over and brown the other side of the bacon as well. Here's the almost finished product-
Please forgive my gay yellowish kitchen lighting. The bacon really is browned and crisp. Now, take the chile cheese sauce and drizzle it over the chicken.

Um, yum?

I served mine with yellow rice and the always safe green beans.

We had a ton of the chile cheese sauce left, so the next night, when I made tacos, I just heated it up and it was perfect!

Happy Birthday, Our Own Ordinary!

We're (the blog that is) one year old today. Helloooooo craziness!

Didn't I just start this blog the other day? I thought so too, but Blogger tells me it was a year ago today. By now you should know the reason why we I started this blog, but if you need a refresher course, here you go.

Seriously, so much has happened in the last year, and if you've been reading for any amount of time, you know about the main things. Thank you guys for reading this little old blog. I can't believe anyone reads, honestly.

Thank you.

Here's to another year!

Biggest Klutz

Remember when you were a senior in high school and you voted for Most Likely To Succeed, Most Friendly, Most Studious and so on? Yeah well I tried my hardest to get all the votes for Most Friendly. Although I came in close if I remember correctly, I was crowned with something totally unexpected (to me at least).

Biggest Klutz.

Whaa? I never tripped and busted my butt at school (not in front of anyone anyway) but my classmates voted me Biggest Klutz anyway.

I never thought I lived up to the title...until here recently.

Every Sunday, while putting away laundry, I jam my hip into the corner of our dining room table. Um, it's been there a few months now. Why in the hell is it jumping out at me all of a sudden and running into me?!

Stupid table.

Oh but it gets worse. Monday, at work I was helping a kid (who is potty traning) get onto the potty. Yeah, I lifted her up because she's a littttttttle one and I busted my head open*.

Oh yes I did.

I saw stars. Literally. I was just waiting to pass out in front of that poor kid in the bathroom. I checked for blood to make sure I wasn't bleeding anywhere but there wasn't any. Thankfully, I caught my breath and went and told the other teacher I was working with that I'd just hit my head (biggest klutz right here!) really hard so if I passed out that's why.

I didn't pass out. There was no blood. But OHMYGOSH the headache. No bueno. So, that night while I was in the shower I felt a lump on my head and I found what you'll see in the picture below.

Wanna see my busted open head? I know you do.

If you don't here's your warning.....

Ok here it goes.

Ok so I know what you're thinking. It looks small. Yeah okay, I'd agree with that. But.

But!

It's gotta be a deep wound because the damn thing is still killing my WHOLE head three days later.

And yes, I took a picture of it...because I guess I really am a bit of a klutz.

*Some genius left open the cabinet above the potty a couple of inches. The corners are sharp on those cabinets too.

I can't believe I just posted this.
