Hot Summer Days

This last week has been the hottest part of the summer this year. So, what do we do?
We watched my two little cousins last weekend and they love to swim, so that's what we did.
I don't remember loving the water at this age as much as these two do.
I'm talking, they have no fear. It's pretty cool to watch.
Chris usually stays in the water with them, and I sit beside the pool because I can see them better that way. It's a control thing...can't ever be too careful.
Even though I wasn't in the pool, that doesn't mean that I didn't get soaked. I needed some relief anyway...after the 105 degrees and all.
After swimming for awhile, the boys worked up an appetite. Lunch by the pool was in order.
D was getting irritated because someone kept interrupting his story telling.
He looks like he's about to turn into the Hulk or something. And then T started laughing...
I don't remember what was funny. But then he let D finish telling his story-
And that was the end.

Another Cupcake Post

Maybe I'm obsessed, but any time I can get someone to go to the cupcake bakery with me, I jump at it. While my brother was here I took him because of course, he'd read my blog post about this place. He's boring so he got the vanilla cupcake, which is good! but there are so many other flavors to choose from.

Anyway.

I'm usually boring, and when I find something I like I usually stick with it, but I tried something different.
Lemon. Also known as "Satellite".

It. was. so. good. I'm not even kidding. I don't know what it is with me and lemon these days but, yum.

*If you want to make your own lemon cake, I have the best recipe.*

Tyler was happy with his choice of cupcake, and he proceeded to make fun of me while I was eating mine. What can I say? They're as messy as they are good.

Water, Water, Everywhere

It's freakin' hot here right now. I can't wait until this time of the year. So, since we still have a couple of months of sweltering heat left, we are always looking for a new way to stay cool. There is a small water park in Round Rock that we like to go to. My cousins had never been before so they tagged along as well.
Tyler and Chris like the water slides.
These kids have no fear of water.
For real.
Piggy back rides from Chris.
After swimming all afternoon we went to dinner at my most favorite place-
Seriously, I love this place. Chris? Not so much. I will wait hours to get a seat here. And wait we did. So we took pictures and talked.
Not sure what I'm looking at in this one.
Finally it was time for the FOOD!
This face cracks me up!
He loved Chuy's. Of course he did, he's my brother.

Baseball

My brother came down to visit us for nine days back in July. Over the next few days I'll be highlighting the things we did while he was here. Every day he texts me and asks when I'm going to blog about it. Finally I'm getting around to it!

The same day we went to get him, we went to a baseball game. It was just minor league, but that's what he wanted to do so we did. I don't know anything about baseball, I'll admit that right away, but we still had fun!
I thought it was pretty boring until like, the 6th inning and then things got fun! Tyler did try to explain the rules of the game to me but I'm not sure how much of it I actually got.
That picture doesn't show it, but Chris and I seriously bought tickets for some damn good seats considering we had no idea what we were doing. Tyler was impressed.
Speaking of impressed, apparently this guy is someone worth knowing because when Tyler found out he was pitching you should have seen his face. He was continuously texting my other brother, who also loves baseball, about how he was watching a game where he actually pitched. We tried getting a picture of him, but they didn't turn out too great.
After 13 innings, we lost, here is a picture right before we lost.
And then leaving...
Told you he liked baseball.
Chris and I never thought we'd spend a Saturday night at a baseball game. It was seriously fun though.

How To Entertain A Teenager-Part 5

We had a very low key afternoon, I'll admit I was tired from the week's festivities...and I'm pretty sure Meg was feeling worn out from a week of camp. It's hard work swimming all day.

Today we met Chris on his lunch break and went to dinner. I use the term "dinner" loosely. He only gets an hour for lunch and there really isn't anything around that's fast.

We ended up at McDonald's. Gag. Chris like's McD's.
A dinosaur shaped chicken nugget made me nervous.

They really are a lot alike.

After a quick "dinner"...we dropped Chris back off at work and then went for dessert. I was hoping she'd go for frozen yogurt, but no.
Chocolate it was.

So many decisions!

I got her a little chocolate "fix" and then took her home. It doesn't sound like much of an afternoon, but she loves hanging out with Chris. She hadn't seen him in a while so it was fun! They played with their food and talked way to loud.

I'd say she had a pretty good week between the manicure, movie, hair make-over, shopping at the mall, and having "dinner" with Chris.

I'm going to go take a three day nap now.

How To Entertain A Teenager-Part 4

I learned a lot today while entertaining my nearly teenage cousin...
*I do not remember being as boy crazy at her age as she is. Holy cow.
*Being boy crazy is one thing, but acting on it is another-
"No, I won't buy you that zipper all the way down the back, nearly see-through, sleeveless, ultra low cut shirt."
"Ugh, why?"
"Because you're dad wouldn't approve, plus it looks trashy and it sends the wrong message."
I'll spare you the very detailed reason why she needed said shirt.

*Kids, I mean teenagers, know so much more about things they shouldn't at such an early age. I mean, I assumed they knew some things. But, wow.
*Pretty sure I learned some stuff today this week.

*She got mad at me because I wouldn't buy her a tutu. Sorry, but no.

*I did on the other hand buy her half a pound of candy. Sorry, Mary! She's got a lot of ooey, gooey candy eating to do before she gets her braces in about a month. Then, I offered to buy her clothes, but all she wanted were accessories.

Girls.

Pictures from today...
Dinner. Where we had fortune cookies...
This was mine. Gee? Wonder what that means. Go back to school maybe? How fitting.
This was Meg's fortune. She thought it was meant to be. The girl can tell stories, I know, but you should have heard about the dream she had with this "guy she thinks is so hot because he's 15, oh and he's HOT!"
It involved an elephant.
Aye ya aye.
Funny...
Then I remembered to change the setting on my camera and caught her eavesdropping on a cute little couple sitting next to us...
The girl is obsessed with Icees.
After eating, we walked around the mall shopped.
Could the shorts get any shorter? I think not. But look at those shoes!
She did get a cute anklet today.
She also got the necklace.
And pink and black bows. She also got purple heart bows. This kid teen shops at Hot Topic, the music was freaking me out. And, I like to consider myself pretty rounded in the music department.
This was before we got in the car to go home, hence, the lack of accessories. She accessorized on the way home.

Speaking of home. I'm home now. My feet hurt. And? My birthday is in 5 days.

Tomorrow is FRIDAY! And we are hopefully meeting Chris on his lunch break to have dinner!
