On Wednesday nights Chris and I sometimes babysit my little cousins. They are 5 and 4 years old. They enjoy jumping on their trampoline and playing with dinosaurs. Okay, they enjoy jumping on their trampoline while being dinosaurs.
They are going to be big brothers soon and they are realllly excited.
Okay, and so am I.

Random Bits
We find out what the results of Chris' CT Scan are on Wednesday.
Not sure why it takes a whole week.
I'm wondering why the CT that he had in the hospital cost us $10,000 and the one he had at the oncologists office only cost us $600. Crap.
I'm watching US vs. CANADA hockey. Pretty sure this is the first hockey game I've ever watched.
I need to go do some laundry.
We are both glad tomorrow is Monday.
I found some good cookbooks at the library the other day.
We finally took my camera and printed some pictures off of it. Now we have a few more recent pictures around the house.
I have horrible luck with tires. I run over crap all of the time.
Hoping something big happens before April is over. Chris, more so than I.
We agreed last night that we will be a tad bit sad when the Olympics are over.
I made steaks the other night. And I ate mine. It was good.
I don't like steak.
I wish I had some orange juice right now.
I have to go do some laundry.

Apple Pie
I made an apple pie the other day for my friend Kim. I mostly bake things in order to find recipes to build up my collection. This apple pie recipe is a keeper. I was going on no sleep so I didn't feel like blogging about it. But it was so pretty when it was finished I had to take a picture...
Um, yum!
I plan on making this again soon because it was good. You may be wondering how we knew it was so tasty, considering I gave it away...Super mini apple pies of course. Duh.
Maybe I'll post the recipe sometime.

Date Night!
Last Thursday, Chris and I had a date night. I'm pretty sure we haven't had one in nearly a year. It was kind of a big deal.
Of course, you're probably thinking, "Ya'll don't have kids, so every night is a date night!" Well, this is true, but we rarely go out to restaurants. Especially since we are so broke/I don't have a job.
It was a treat. We went to Olive Garden, which Chris used to NOT like. Luckily, this time he found something on the menu that he loved, which included no pasta whatsoever. So, maybe there will be more trips there in the future. I, myself, go for the salad. What made it so awesome was that we had a gift card! Double bonus.
When we were finished eating, I suggested going to Super Target (don't laugh!) because we'd never been to a Super. Oh, and because Chris looooooves to shop/browse. Like, more than I do. I was working on less than 45 minutes of sleep so I was dragging but he was all in to it.
I'm looking forward to the next date night!

I can't believe I'm posting this picture, but Chris wanted to have a picture of us. I can't believe how bad I look!
I'm looking forward to the next date night!

Thank Goodness We Took Bread
If you read this post, then you know that we already had one encounter with a four legged friend rodent. Well, we went to this park knowing there are always ducks that beg for food. So, I grabbed the half a loaf of bread that we did have in the pantry. Chris did all of the feeding.
When Chris ran out of bread, we moved on. We walked around the park and found this little slab of concrete we'll call it the "shore." We sat on the shore for a while. Of course, Chris had to see how close he could get to the water.
Always tempting fate.
I think he was just trying to stand up in this picture, haha but it looks like he's either a) getting ready to fly away, or b) about to fall in head first.
Fun stuff.
We look homeless in this picture.
I probably shouldn't joke about that.

Snow Day 2010
I finally got my snow. I don't know if I'd call it "snow" more like slushwatericesnow. It didn't really stick so that kind of sucked but it was still fun watching it fall. Supposedly, we got two inches of snow. Oh, and Chris was off today so we got to spend the snow day together! Here are a few moments from our day.
*Warning- This post is picture overload*
I said, "Act like you're happy to see snow!" This is what I got.
Driving to the oncologists office. Ok, I was parked but still.
He should get paid to eat Rudy's breakfast tacos. Like, Seriously.
This is the 5th or so attempt at this picture. We I gave up.
He may or may not have been eating snow in this one.
No words for this one.
Clever.
Typical.
Apparently I have a thing for snow covered trees.
Georgetown square.
Not sure why I like this one so much.
Watching the snow fall from inside, wearing his Snuggie.
The snowflakes were huge, I wish my camera could have captured them individually.
Jaycie didn't know what to think of the snow.
The Sonic snowman.
Chris didn't get the Sonic cap in the pic, but look he's got an apron.
His face was falling off. See the fruit in front of him?
He was on Austin Ave. Did anyone else see him?
We Are So Different
Chris woke up one morning last week wanting to go to the library. Now, going to the library with Chris, is like going shopping with Chris. It usually is an all day thing. Okay, a half a day thing. Don't get me wrong, I love spending time together doing things, but I go into that place on a mission.
Find books and get out.
Maybe I just wasn't in the mood to go because I owed a $6 fine from the last time we went. We might as well just buy the books. Just kidding.
Anyway, we went and it wasn't too bad. he seemed to know exactly what he was looking for and even asked a librarian when we couldn't find it! I think he'd done some research or something. It was a beautiful thing.
But, we are so different.

Here are the books I got...
Three cookbooks and one easy fast reader.
Here are Chris' choices...
I'd describe them but I have no idea what they are.
I opened one up, I think it was the bottom one, and it was like another language. Reminded me of a high school class I took back in the day...
Oh and I paid the fine.

Patio Snow
*I posted this 2/24/10, not sure why it's showing up on this day*
Just in case you didn't get enough snow filled pictures yesterday...here's a video I shot off of our patio yesterday. This was just as the snow was starting to fall.
Can you hear the excitement in our voices?
Am I the only one who hates their own voice when they hear it back on a video/voicemail?
Squirrels Like French Fries Too
Last Tuesday, because it was NOT a chemotherapy Tuesday...Chris and I decided to go to the park and have a picnic. A celebration of sorts, and the weather was great. I say picnic, but what I really mean is,
"Let's stop by Sonic, grab some food and take it to the park because I haven't been to the store in weeks and there is no food in this house!"
Anyway, we picked out a picnic table and were immediately greeted by this-
See him?
He was on to us. He knew we had goodies. And he was not afraid. He freaked the crap out of me though. He was running right up by our feet. I quickly finished eating and saved a few of Chris' french fries (I had onion rings) so that I could distract him (the squirrel not Chris) in order to run to my car.
I think he had played this game before.
He was a fast little sucker. Of course, he grabbed the french fry and RAN! right as I was walking running by to jump in my car. I was seriously snapping these pictures as fast as I could while Chris was lauging at me.
He liked the french fry though!
Once I jumped in the car, we saw this-
Not a very good picture, but he was on the picnic table looking for scraps.
Moral of the story- don't go to the park without snacks for furry friends.

M.I.A-Random Bits
I've been missing in action. No real reason, except for the fact that I just haven't been in the mood to blog.
Too much crap going on.
These next two weeks should be interesting. Tomorrow, Chris goes for labs. Wednesday he goes for his CT Scan.
He's feeling good, other than feeling out of shape. But, as soon as we get the all clear from the doctors we are both going to start working on that. Because, I feel like crap too.
I'm pretty sure his hair is growing back. Slowly. And, you can't see it so I guess that means it's lighter? Grey? We'll see.
I've been staying up way to late these last couple of weeks. Not because I'm not exhausted.
We have been watching way to much of the Olympics.
I'm still looking for a job, but it's hard to stay motivated when nothing ever works out.
It's supposed to snow tomorrow. This is the 4th time this year it has been forcasted, never happened. I will still get my hopes up though.
My house smells lemony delicious. I'm baking a lemon pound cake. Maybe I'll share.
I miss my brothers/dad.

Valentine's Part 2
I know the way to Chris' heart. Through his belly. And, like Kim told me earlier, if he realizes where the fifteen or so pounds he's gained recently has come from then I'm going to be in big trouble. I'll just blame it on the steroid he's been taking. That's what the nurses do!
Chris has this thing for chocolate. I mean, I like it too, but not as much as some people. Some people...like Chris.
Baked Fudge
What you need-
1 cup sugar
2 tbs. cocoa
2 tbs. flour
1/2 cup butter (melted)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Baked Fudge
What you need-
1 cup sugar
2 tbs. cocoa
2 tbs. flour
1/2 cup butter (melted)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 300 degrees. You can use either an 8X8 pan or four large ramekins. I used ramekins.
Place ramekins in a cassarole dish half way full of water.
Now grab your two eggs and crack them into a bowl.
Beat the eggs until they become light in color. Lighter than this.
More like this.
Once the eggs are light, add your sugar.
Beat until combined.
Next, add your cocoa.
Add the flour, melted butter and vanilla.
Mix gently until the batter is combined.
Pour batter into the ramekins.
Bake in the oven from 45-60 minutes. It depends on your oven. You want the tops to be crunchy, but you want the inside to be fudge-like. A toothpick should not come out clean. Stick them back in the oven a few minutes if you think they aren't done enough.
This one looks perfect, although I like this next one because if you put ice cream on it, it would drip into all the nooks and crannies.
But that's just me. You could also top with homeade whipped topping, or powdered sugar.Happy VALENTINE'S DAY!
