I'm not complaining, I really enjoy cooking for my dad and brothers. I know they don't get home cooked meals very often because my dad works full time and well, honestly his specialty is hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill (as you saw on my last post). Yes, I request burgers when we go up there because we don't have the luxury of grilling in our wonderful apartment.
So, as soon as I knew we'd be making the trip up there, I started making a mental menu of what I'd make for them while I was there. Here's the menu-
Tuesday-we got there at 2:30 in the morning so I didn't plan on cooking anything except dinner that day. Plus, my dad and brother worked all day so they'd only be home for dinner. After waking up just a little before lunchtime (remember we finally went to sleep about 4:30) I made some cheese dip and Tyler and Chris made sandwiches for everyone. That way, we could just snack off and on all day until it was time for dinner. For dinner I made meatloaf, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and green beans. I can not imagine cooking for six hungry men/boys every single day. Ohmygosh.
Wednesday- My dad didn't have to work on this day (yay!) so I decided breakfast had to be made. I made pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Hey! I didn't say I cooked anything healthy! After breakfast, all of the boys went to the park so of course they came home hungry...For dinner dad made my requested hamburgers and sausages (for everyone but me) on the grill, I made baked beans and there was potato salad, Tyler made some tea, Chris-style (like syrup-sweet, yuck!), and for dessert I made banana pudding.
Thursday- We knew we were leaving this afternoon so Chris and I had a light breakfast, toast, and then on the way out of town he took me to my favoriteplaceeverinMountPleasant...Randy's! Yes, another burger, but it didn't even matter beacuse they are so good/I only get one every year and a half or so.
Yes, I took picture for proof that we ate there on the way out of town. Tyler didn't believe me that I was only eating that one meal that day.
Oh, I forgot to mention that before we left to drive up there, I made banana nut bread and peanut butter cookies (recipe to come soon). The cookies were gone after dinner on Tuesday (dessert) but they were still eating on the bread when we left.
I'm a machine.
*Thank you to Tyler, my potato peeler/dishwasher and Chris, my sous chef.*
